The editor-in-chief of the Albanian newspaper Erl Murati has commented on the developments surrounding the case of Fredi Beleri and Greece's intervention to block the process of Albania's integration into the EU.
He stated that Greece's request for Fredi Beleri is ridiculous and falls to the level of paradox, since it is not addressed to a specific party and that Beleri is kept in prison by justice.
Murati added that Beler's case is not an issue of the Greek minority in Albania, especially at a time when EU and DASH reports have not found violations against minorities.
"There is increased pressure from Athens, but I don't believe it will turn into a final veto. In the case of Beler, it is a ridiculous request at the level of paradox since it is not known to whom the request is addressed. Justice, the government, the president or whoever. It is not an individual who keeps Beler in a cell, it is three levels of justice who keep him because he is accused of buying and selling votes.
This is like telling Greece to release an Albanian prisoner so that we can have good relations with Greece. This is not a matter of the Greek minority in Albania, in such a case Greece could make a request. The EU and DASH reports have not found violations against minorities" , he told "News 24".
