This Tuesday, SPAK asked the Assembly of Albania to remove the immunity of the former prime minister, Sali Berisha. The Mandates Council will meet on December 18, 2023 to consider this request.
This was also the topic today in the show "Opinion", on TV Klan, where the journalist Enton Abilekaj, one of the guests, stated that what SPAK did, is complicating this issue more politically.
Abilekaj said that this request of SPAK against Berisha is more like a trap than to establish justice.
Enton Abilekaj: SPAK could wait for all levels, although it was up to the appeal, it could also wait for the Supreme Court and the Constitutional Court. Either take the same measure to parliament, or do what he did, which complicates it more politically than anything else.
Enton Abilekaj: Because until now Mr. Berisha said that the measures given to me to go to parliament are enough and I will go. The tightening of the measure in conditions where the measure was contested constitutionally, is not legally justified.

Enton Abilekaj: SPAK has taken the decision to take the measure, to deepen the measure, based on the conclusions of GJKKO and SPAK itself. Now what happens? This seems more like a trap than a means of justice. Why as a trap? Because if this procedure had happened from the beginning, with the measure of blocking the passport, Mr. Berisha would have been forced and we would have continued to follow him in a free state. But since this procedure was not respected, Berisha refused and now he will be trapped in a "house arrest", which will block him from political activity. So I don't know if SPAK thought it this way, premeditated it this way, but the way it went, things went like a political trap, which was built for Mr. Berisha.
