The High Inspector of Justice has begun reviewing the file received from the High Judicial Council for the judge of the Special Court, Irena Gjoka.
The Supreme Court decided a few days ago, by majority vote, that the matter related to her conviction in Greece be referred for evaluation to the ILD, as the competent body for disciplinary investigation.
On January 20, the General Prosecutor's Office announced that it had completed an in-depth verification of Judge Gjoka's integrity, a process requested by the Supreme Court of Kosovo and conducted over approximately 20 months. The results of this verification were not made public.
In parallel, the Special Prosecution Office has registered criminal proceedings following a complaint filed by Adriana Kalaja. The complaint relates to the allegation of failure to declare in the self-declaration form a criminal conviction issued by the Greek justice system in the mid-2000s, for passport and visa forgery. SPAK has clarified that the proceedings have been registered for the criminal offense provided for by Article 190 of the Criminal Code, while so far there are no persons registered as under investigation.
Judge Gjoka has previously undergone a re-evaluation process. The Independent Qualification Commission confirmed her in office, while the Public Commissioner withdrew the appeal to the Special Appeals Chamber, leaving the confirmation decision in force.
