The Prime Minister has sent a letter to President Begaj to set the date of the partial elections for Himara. 

The Council of Ministers has started the procedure for the partial elections in the Municipality of Himara, after the CEC declared today the mandate of Fredi Beler invalid, thus opening the vacancy for a new mayor.

Through an official request addressed to President Bajram Begaj, the Council of Ministers has notified the head of state of the creation of a vacancy for the Mayor of Himara, thus requesting the appointment of the date of the partial elections, within the deadlines set by the electoral law.

Lera was signed by General Secretary Úngjëll Agaçi.

"Based on the above and in implementation of the legal obligations arising from the Electoral Code, namely Article 10 of the Code, as well as Article 61, Paragraph 4, of Law No. 139/2015, "On Local Self-Government", we inform you of the creation of the vacancy for the mayor of Himarë, and therefore the appointment of the date of the partial elections for the mayor of Himarë within the terms set by the electoral law", the request states.

We remind you that the Central Election Commission has today (July 5) declared the mandate of the elected mayor of Himara, Fredi Beleri, invalid.
