The criminalistics expert, Ervin Karamuço, has made a strong statement as he says that Albania has avoided a criminal event a few days ago, which could have consequences in relations with Russia.
Invited to the show "Free Zone" on ABC News, Karamuço said that a Russian citizen, who is wanted by the Interpol of Moscow, was stopped at the border and kept in a prison in the north of Albania.
According to Karamuço, this citizen is currently being kept in Tirana, as Russia awaits his extradition.
Among other things, Karamuço underlined that the Russian is the right-hand man of one of the biggest exponents of the Russian mafia, and Russia wants him to become an associate of justice.
"Something happened that very few people know about. Albania has avoided, these days, a very serious criminal event, which could have consequences in relations with the Russian Federation. This happened on the vigil, before the Mitrovica event happened, it was an information that came to us from the partners. A Russian was detained by us, who was wanted by Interpol Moscow. He was stopped at the border, he was taken to a prison in the north of Albania. Then an urgent information came, there were two possibilities, either they would kill him in our prisons and the Albanian state would be held accountable, or there could be an organization through the organizations of the Balkan criminal network, an attempt to get him out of prison, by attacking. These were the two alternatives that came as information. They brought him urgently, during the day, for 2 hours, from the prison in the north of Albania, they brought him to the middle of Tirana and guard him until he is extradited to Russia.
