Christmas and New Year, tourism expert reveals where Albanians spend the

Tirana International Airport received an influx of passengers during November. According to data, over 765 thousand passengers arrived from 67 destinations.

The increase in the flow is directly related to both the continuation of tourist demand after the summer season, but also to the expansion of flight destinations. Just as many Albanians choose to spend their holidays abroad, there are also foreigners who come to Albania to enjoy the end-of-year days.

Tourism expert Isa Krasniqi said that for the end-of-year holidays, the cities most frequented by Albanians are Vienna, Prague and Rome. However, there are those who choose to spend their holidays in warm places, such as Dubai.

"Albanians have chosen this year more, three cities like Vienna, Prague, and Rome. All three of these cities have direct airlines, but they are also cities that offer a great atmosphere when it comes to the end-of-year holidays. There are also flights to hot places, such as Dubai, but there are also those who want to spend the end-of-year holidays in Albania," he said.

When asked which cities are most sought after within the country to spend the holidays, the expert stated that Korça is the absolute dominant one, but nevertheless in recent years there has been increased interest in Berat and Shkodra.

"Korça is the first place for many reasons, this year in particular there have been many visits to Berat, but also to Shkodra. Not only visits, but accommodation in these two places is also preferred. Vlora also remains a destination", added the expert.

Krasniqi emphasized that Albania should have a year-round offer in tourism, as this sector has a lot of potential and we should all work towards this objective.

"There are many Germans who are visiting in the last part of the year to celebrate the new year. There are also people from Spain who come and are enthusiastic about their visit to Albania. They were amazed when they saw the beauties of our country. We need to go to a year-round tourism. We need to raise tourism and make it year-round. To invest in the promotion of Albania, but also to improve the infrastructure. To have something to say to foreigners," he said to "Abc News".
