" If there were a different decision, the Constitutional Court would punish itself before public opinion and before any foreign court where the case could go ," said academic Artan Fuga.
Fuga believes that not only institutional bodies, but also political ones, were in a hurry for the by-elections in the capital.
" All the institutions that were involved fell into the vortex of haste, even the socialist parliamentary group that has no competence there, but can express its opinion but no one spoke. Even the presidency with the lawyers. But I want to say that even the oppositionists who want to be in opposition by violating the Constitution," the academic said.
He considers the unification of the votes of the Democrats with the Socialists for the dismissal of Veliaj a serious mistake by the DP, which chose to use the strategy of the SP to achieve its goal in an irregular legal procedure.
"In the first step, the opposition declared that the Constitutional Court's decision was a blow against Rama and Begaj, not against them, but against the opposition as well. The opposition did not say this. It is wrong here, it does not self-criticize, it always blames others," says Fuga.
Artan Fuga sees Prime Minister Edi Rama's orders to Tirana's MPs to be ready for elections at any time as more than in line with the real situation, as a mobilization of structures to work beyond a name.
"I see it metaphorically as seeking to keep that entire electoral machine running and to show that that decision was indeed made that defies the Council of Ministers, but does not defy our will to solve the problems ," he says.
