If you are skilled in finance, information technology or healthcare… then 2026 is your year. It is not an astrological prediction, but a genuine analysis based on the demand and supply of the labor market.
"Based on Forbes articles and various international forecasts, the most sought-after skills of 2025 continue to be computer skills, artificial intelligence... but with an increased focus on interpersonal skills as well as technical skills related mainly to healthcare," said Lutjona Lula, a labor market expert.
"Technology, artificial intelligence will always be in-demand positions. But I don't think that applies to us. We have other, more urgent problems," said Emin Shini, a labor market expert.
With an even deeper crisis in human resources, and more limited alternatives, Albania's needs are oriented primarily towards tourism, construction, and then information technology.
"Following the trend from 2024, there is certainly a great demand for some professions that we call "medium technicians" such as electricians, mechanics or plumbers. Tourism and construction are the two sectors that are suffering and will suffer for labor force," said Shini.
The crisis of the last two years in particular has turned the attention of businesses to employees like never before. But businesses are still failing to attract "Generation Z", young people born in the late 1990s.
"Young people of 'Generation Z' place more importance on mental well-being, equal treatment at work, feeling motivated to do meaningful tasks. So they often have a culture clash ," Lula said.
2025 was the fourth consecutive year in Albania where salaries increased. On average, a waiter is being paid from 800 to 1 thousand euros, a chef up to 1 thousand 200 euros. A construction worker is also paid 700 to 900 euros, while the salary of an IT or construction engineer fluctuates from 1 thousand to 2 thousand euros./A2 CNN
