Albania's Ambassador to Israel, Meri Kumbe, commented on the situation created in the country following the exchange of missile attacks with Iran.
The Albanian diplomat tells A2Cnn that life in Israeli cities has frozen, while everyone meticulously follows the army's orders to enter shelters.
"In fact, from the moment it started, all the embassies have been available. There have been difficult nights. It's only when you hear the bombings that they are difficult, not when you experience them. We are strictly enforcing all the rules. It is difficult for us, but also for tourists or people who found themselves in Israel for work, they were unprepared. Life in the city has been stopped due to security instructions, schools, offices have been closed. Everyone is working from safe offices.
"Markets and pharmacies are open. Life is frozen, there is no traffic, there are no people walking. There has been damage in Tel Aviv and nearby cities. There have also been deaths. If there are attacks, an SMS will come to the phone, that Israel is being attacked. Buildings 20 years old and older have security rooms inside, while older ones have them downstairs. There are also public protection structures, for people who are outside. We do not enter these rooms without being told by SMS or by the alarm that is heard. The last 24 hours have been quieter, we had 3 alarms in the morning", says the ambassador.
Kumbe states that currently 5 Albanians who were there for work or tourism are stranded in Israel, while those who live there have not requested to be evacuated.
"We, as a diplomatic corps, also implement the general rules. We are obliged to implement them. We are in contact with all Albanian citizens and are working to return them. We have another community of Albanians living in Israel and who have not asked to leave. The airport is closed, as is the sea route. Citizens who are found by chance tell us to take them home, the main thing for us is to keep them safe. 5 citizens have requested help. The number is small," declared Kumbe.
