The fight for the Constitution moves the Americans: Elsa Toska, Holta

Several members of the Constitutional Court and the head of the Supreme Court meetings in the USA...

The United States of America seems to have moved after attempts by politicians to interfere with the Constitutional Court.

For weeks, this court has been the subject of debate. Elsa Toska mysteriously resigned and the SP has started maneuvers to appoint one of her loyalists there. Meanwhile, there have been strong clashes regarding the mandate of Holta Zaçaj.

The latter has faced strong attacks from people close to the government, after trying to postpone the mandate until December. Zaçaj clashed with the Supreme Court over deadlines, as the Supreme Court claims her term ends on March 10, 2025.

But today there was a very interesting development. The members of the Constitutional Court and the heads of the Supreme Court have been summoned to Washington. The news was announced by the Constitutional Court itself, as there was also a meeting with former ambassador Yuri Kim, who today holds a high position in DASH.

" On March 28, 2024, as part of a joint official visit to the United States of America, in which the President of the Constitutional Court, Mrs. Holta Zaçaj, President of the Supreme Court, Mr. Sokol Sadushi, Deputy President of the Supreme Court Mr. Ilir Panda, judges of the Constitutional Court, Mrs. Elsa Toska, Mrs. Sonila Bejtja, Mr. Sander Beci, Mr. Ilir Toska and Mr. Genti Ibrahimi, as well as Mrs. Vilma Premti, director of the Cabinet of the President of the Constitutional Court, official meetings were held with high representatives of justice institutions in Washington DC, in which the Ambassador of the Republic of Albania to the USA, Mr. Ervin Bushati ", announced the Constitutional Court.

It is further stated that the Albanian delegation had meetings with the Deputy Assistant Attorney General, Bruce Sëartz, and the Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Mrs. Yuri Kim.

" The focus of the meetings was the progress of the justice reform in Albania and the importance of its successful implementation for the creation of an efficient and independent judicial system, with the aim of increasing public confidence in the delivery of justice, as well as moving forward in the path of Albania's membership in the European Union. During the meetings, President Zaçaj, after expressing thanks and gratitude for the support given by the United States of America, also focused on the challenges that the Constitutional Court has faced since its complete recomposition and the positive results that have been recorded not only in in the direction of improving the quality of decision-making, increasing efficiency and transparency, but also in the promotion and recognition of this Court in the international arena , "announces the Constitutionalist.

The senior officials of the Department of Justice and the Department of State expressed their willingness to continue the support provided by the American state for the successful implementation of the reform in justice and the increase of the credibility of the Albanian judiciary. / Pamphlet
