Manjani: We have not reformed justice, we have only fired people from their jobs

Lawyer Ylli Manjani, who held the post of Minister of Justice in the 'Rama-1' government in 2013-2017, has stated that Albania has not reformed the judiciary.

Speaking on 'A Show', Manjani said that, in fact, in some sectors, the justice system has suffered regression, not progress.

" It is something that everyone should know. The reform in justice, as it is called today, has not been done. We have not reformed justice. Until today we have made a personnel policy, we have removed in the most brutal way some people from work, some people who have given 10-20-30 years of work to the justice system.

With the stroke of a pencil, in the most brutal way possible, we have taken them out of the game and emptied the judicial system of professionals.

This is the consequence of what we know as justice reform.

So far, we have not done, we have not changed the trial, the term of the trial, the concept of the trial. We have not reformed anything.

On the contrary, in some aspects we have regressed, with some interventions that were made in the name of reform, but which have created regression in terms of standards.

Constitutional freedoms are very controversial today. The guarantees of every citizen today are zero. Here we have arrived.

If this is called reform and has a name, it deserves to be owned by them, by the young Albanian communists. They have also exceeded Enver Hoxha's standards. The reform has not been done yet ", said Ylli Manjani.
