The British newspaper, Daily Mail, has published the case of a 28-year-old Albanian, who has discovered that he is on the list of deportations to Rwanda. While he says that he does not know where Rwanda falls, the Albanian says that he worked in construction in Britain.
"I know my name is on the list to fly to Rwanda. I worry all the time that they will force me to go and live there ," he said.
The Albanian, named Meti, says he narrowly escaped flying to Rwanda in June of this year. He was just steps away from the plane when the flight was canceled at the last minute.
" The door was open, my hands were tied and two security guards were holding me. Then an immigration official appeared and said 'there are no flights for today' , says the Albanian.
On Wednesday, the British Supreme Court is expected to make the final decision on the issue of deportations to Rwanda.
" I am terrified of what awaits me. The lawyers have told me that if the plane takes off, I must be on board. I feel like I'm being treated like a guinea pig ," says Meti.
Unusually, Matt has not claimed anything from the British state, even though he is officially an asylum seeker and could receive free accommodation and an allowance.
" I better keep my head down. I want to earn money to send back to my own mother in Albania. She survives by selling the milk of our two cows. I was not forced to come here. I chose it because I wanted a better life. I was not trafficked and never heard that term until I was asked here if I had come against my will. I knew I could earn up to ten times that in England. I decided to leave because my friends had already left for Europe or Britain. There were almost no young men left," he says, emphasizing that he never imagined that he would end up in Africa ," said Meti.
