Activist Zhaklin Lekatari says regarding this phenomenon that parents need to be mentally screened.
The case of the cardiac surgeon, Dervish Hasi, arrested after being accused of sexually exploiting and abusing a minor girl who is currently 16 years old for almost 2 years, has shocked the entire public opinion. The story was discovered a few days after another case was discovered in another city of Albania, where a 13-year-old girl was married to a man 20 years older.
It seems that this is only the tip of the iceberg. Early marriages, as young as 14, - pure sexual abuse but also sexual abuse of little girls seems to have flourished in secret in our society and is now coming to the surface.
Activist Zhaklin Lekatari says regarding this phenomenon that parents need to be mentally screened.
"There is also a need for parents' education. That I do not believe that they did not know, or they are not capable of parenting. A mental screening should be done. All these events are Hollywood scenarios. The situation is alarming," said Lekatari.
Activist Suela Koçibellinj underlined that the voice must be raised to stop cases of sexual abuse of minors.
"It worries me that we have a doctor-surgeon who has been involved in crime and has never been in the police's attention as to what he does next. There are three adult women who did not speak while assisting in sexual intercourse with minors. They have legal responsibility.
Where we are managing to exploit, we defile the future of our children. This silence because of this or that is causing us to have abused little girls today. It's disappointing. The greatest ambition of that little girl was to be the fourth wife of a 42-year-old man who had three other wives. We have dismantled what we are talking about empowering girls and women to get educated. Then we move on to pornographic materials, which is a forbidden case," she said.
