New details are learned from the testimony of the former Minister of Finance and Economy, Arben Ahmetaj yesterday at SPAK.
The former minister clarified for the prosecutor Enkeleda Millonai his position regarding the incinerator of Fier and Elbasan.
Ahmetaj stated that as the former Minister of Economy and as the former Minister of Finance, he had no decision-making role for the incinerators.
Ahmetaj has denied the relationship with Klodian Zoto, whom he has stated that he only knows as a businessman, while as for the villa in Hamallaj, he has stated that it is the property of the family of his cohabitant Erjola Hoxha, with whom he has been living since 2022.
Ahmetaj was summoned to SPAK yesterday as part of the investigations being carried out by the prosecution against the latter for 4 charges: abuse of office, corruption, money laundering and illegal benefits. It was 12:00 when Ahmetaj appeared at SPAK to be interrogated as a person under investigation accompanied by his lawyer Henrik Ligori.
It is learned that SPAK has combined two proceedings, the division of the fraction for the incinerator of Elbasan, where it is being investigated for abuse of office and corruption and money laundering after the report that was made to the villa in Hamallaj.
The investigations against Ahmetaj started after there were hints in the media that he had benefited from trips and benefits from the bosses of the incinerators. There were several e-mails that came out and this caused SPAK to start investigations. Ahmetaj himself does not appear to have signed anywhere, but SPAK accuses him of 4 criminal offenses.
