The meeting of the Council for Regulation, Mandates and Immunity is continuing from 10:30 to review the request of the Special Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office to lift the immunity of Belinda Balluku as an MP. The latter has been suspended from her duties as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, while SPAK is demanding her arrest.
The head of SPAK, Klodian Braho, the prosecutors of the case, Dritan Prençi and Dorina Bejko, as well as all members of this council, are present in the Presidency of the Assembly.
The head of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, and the Special Prosecution Office confirmed that other criminal facts have been established against Balluk.
According to SPAK, Balluku is at risk of tampering with evidence and committing other crimes as well, confirming that on November 20, 2025, he intimidated two witnesses, asking them to change their testimony.
The prosecution also informs that there is evidence that some "strong" people (meaning elements of organized crime) have threatened witnesses on behalf of Ms. Balluku. They have also presented evidence to this effect at the Council meeting, including transcripts of conversations.
According to the prosecution, Ms. Balluku or her lawyers have not raised any allegations of political influence/political persecution by the prosecution. The investigation has no political background.
This fact was also confirmed by Ms. Balluku's lawyers, who stated that they have no such claim.
Balluku is not present at the meeting, but has sent her two lawyers, Pamela Qirko (her sister) and Ardian Kalia.
As expected, the leader of the DP parliamentary group, Gazment Bardhi, objected to the delay in the issue, also demanding that today's meeting be transparent to the public.
