After the serious event where Martin Canit, the 14-year-old student was stabbed to death by a peer, the Government decided to put two proposals into public discussion, the closure of Snap Chat or TikTok in Albania or the installation of filters on these two highly populated social networks among teenagers.
Regarding this proposal, the analyst Mentor Kikia, today in a Skype connection for the show "Today Live in Albania" said that limiting the use of social networks is an appropriate measure.
But, according to him, the origin of the problem is elsewhere.
"Limiting the use of social networks is an appropriate measure, as massive platforms through which messages that incite violence and conflict and motivate young people in harmful actions against themselves, peers and society are spread without control, measures must be taken. I believe I don't believe that closing Tiktok and Snapchat is the solution to the problem, it would be good news that we would solve these problems with a government decision analyze the dimensions of the problem and find its roots and then find the cure. We need to understand the dimensions and the origin of the problem, and I say that it is not the origin of the social networks, although most of the conflicts start from there a violent social environment, to a cold relationship between the family and the school to the neglect of parents to interact with their children to understand the problems.School is not only the place where they should learn but also educate themselves", said Kikia.
Kikia said that today in schools it is impossible for the teacher to perform his duties.
"It is impossible for the teacher today to exercise his authority in the school and establish order in the classroom and control the students because they prevent the rights of children in front of the obligations that they should have, parents eager to protect their children they react violently to teachers even in cases when teachers raise their voices against students", said the analyst.
According to him, children today are surrounded by an environment where there is violence. According to him, a friendlier and more educational environment is needed.
"What motivates teenagers today is the environment, the street, the vocabulary, the relationships with friends and family, what you see on social networks and in the media. Society is burdened with violence, violence by the rich on the poor, violence by the powerful on the powerless, the violence of the one who occupies the square in front of the palace and the children have nowhere to play. We need a more educational and friendly environment for these young people," he said.
