Deputy Director of Tirana Police Alket Shatro has shared details about the destruction of Leart Haxhiu's gang and the arrest of Artan Tafani, who has now repented of justice.
Shatro showed how it became possible to identify Artan Tafani, declare him wanted, and arrest him. Regarding Tafan's role in the criminal gang, the deputy director of the police said that he was the executioner, while Haxhiu was the person who gave orders on who would be executed. He also said he did it for financial purposes, or to eliminate those he had conflicts with.
"From the violent theft of a currency point in Astir, Tirana, it became possible to identify and announce the search for the perpetrator. He was identified due to information in police intelligence, clothing, a car was found in the garage. After that, a large-scale search was made, since he had a criminal background, a wide operation was made not only in Tirana, but also in the districts. The operation was organized and it was possible to catch him in a hotel on Lushnjë-Fier road. Artan Tafani is a member of Leart Haxhiu's group and has the role of executioner in most of the murders. Haxhiu is the main one in this criminal group as he ordered murders. He had financial benefits but also due to conflicts", Shatro said to "News 24".
