Mertiri: Berisha does not have a fight with Rama, but with Altin Duman

Many things have changed since the beginning of the Special Prosecutor's Office, 5 years ago. The behavior of politics towards SPAK has become even tougher.

This Tuesday, for nearly 3 hours, former president Ilir Meta was interrogated by SPAK prosecutors regarding one of the suspected corruption files against him, that of lobbying in the United States.

Meanwhile, yesterday (January 06) Sali Berisha appeared at the Special Prosecutor's Office to implement the security measure "obligation to appear" assigned to him by the Appeal of GJKKO.

To discuss more about the latest developments of SPAK in politics, the central news edition of Vizion Plus was the analyst Ergys Mërtiri.

Mërtiri said that Mr. Berisha does not have a fight with the prime minister, but with Altin Duman. As for the primary elections in the Democratic Party, he declares that there will not be any.

The analyst adds that the PD leader's disobedience to appear at the SPAK hurt Mr. Berisha himself more. Mertiri said that like Berisha, Meta also has the same language in front of justice, which makes them very funny.

Full interview:

- Mr. Berisha began to appear in SPAK, forced by the order of the Special Court. What changed from a year ago with Berisha? Do you have an opinion on this matter?

If Mr. Berisha had obeyed the court's decision, he would not have gone through an ordeal of suffering, a house arrest... where hundreds of citizens have been protesting every day. This hurt Mr. Berisha more than anyone else. Even Mr. Berisha's visit to SPAK with protests, speeches, reflects exactly this mentality, the effort that Mr. Berisha makes to mask the defeat in front of SPAK, the failure in front of justice institutions. He tries to sell this as a victory. They are attempts to deceive the crisis and subjugation in front of SPAK, selling it as superiority. In any normal country in the world, Mr. Berisha should fight the legal battle, as every serious politician should, but this does not happen in Albania.

-Mr. Berisha has committed that primary elections will be held in DP, should we wait until March 11, that is, two months before May 11, for this process to end?

It does not seem that there will be primaries in DP. I see a line-up of Mr. Berisha's supporters on his side, against SPAK. A year ago, when Bardhi's group said that we are not against SPAK, but we are united in diversity, today we see that the color has taken on its own, a color that only Berisha knows. Diversity has been broken and the ensemble has turned into a monologue, reciting the same monologue against SPAK. Berisha is trying to capture as many votes as they allow in order to have the exclusivity of the opposition, to use it as an instrument of defense against SPAK. Berisha's fight is not with Rama, but with Duman.
