Former KLA soldier Dritan Goxhaj spoke after his release by the Court of Appeal. Goxhaj first stated that the mission of the war was the National Union, while he added that the fact that he cannot now travel to Kosovo kills him.
"I would like to specify something, we fought for Albania. This process that is happening today is a first and intermediate step for the unification of the nation.
Everyone who came from Albania and those who were in Kosovo, fought for an Albania.
The impossibility to go to Kosovo kills you, but we have simply fought a battle and we will fight even more battles until we finish the war. The mission is national unity," said Goxhaj.
One of the names published by Goxhaj is a person in the ranks of the Vetëvendosje Movement. The ex-soldier says that the testimonies of these people were false, since they were not at all at these events, but gave them for personal gain.
"I don't know if it belongs to LVV. I started that the person knew about that event, I accused this person and other people as false witnesses. These were not at all in this event. They have KLA after the war.
They made false testimonies for personal reasons, they obtained asylum, documents in one country," he added.
Then he showed that the reason why he published these names is due to the fact that the testimonies of these people gave the KLA soldier 26 years in prison.
"Because their false testimonies gave 26 years in prison to our soldier. During the war, we had when Serbia arrested people and the heaviest punishment was 17 years in prison. And this court of ours punishes the fighters who gave the opportunity to create this court with almost twice the punishment given by Serbia" said Goxhaj for "Abc news".
