The Vlora Port Authority has decided to suspend sea navigation starting from 2:00 PM this Friday. Navigation will be suspended for small vessels as well as fishing vessels that want to sail outside the Bay of Vlora.
From 14:00 this Friday, worsening weather conditions are expected. The suspension of sea navigation comes as a result of strong coastal winds blowing from the North-Northwest, with a speed of 15-20 meters per second, which in the open sea causes waves from 1.5 meters to 2.5 meters high, making it impossible for ships and fishing vessels to navigate.
Small vessels and fishing vessels will be allowed to sail within the Bay of Vlora, but the Port Captaincy announces that even for navigation within the bay, all vessel administrators must exercise caution.
Maritime transport ships, ferries on the Brindisi line, continue their journeys in full normality towards their destinations.
The administrators of floating and fishing vessels have begun to secure floating vessels and boats on the coast, to avoid their collision with the coast, which causes extensive material damage.
The hydrometeorological situation in Vlora is expected to improve starting at 06:00 on Saturday morning, when vessels will be able to sail out to sea again.
