He further emphasized that decisions for Himara are already made by the Municipal Council, which has the right to appoint a current mayor. It also explained other procedures that can be followed in relation to this situation.
The acting mayor of Himara, Jorgo Goro, was arrested two days ago by order of the SPAK Special Prosecutor's Office.
Jurist of the CEC, Altin Kazizaj said that the policy of the head of the government Edi Rama has brought the situation to this point, as according to him the elected president of Himara should be allowed to take the oath.
Furthermore, he emphasized that the decisions for Himara are already made by the Municipal Council, which has the right to appoint a current mayor. It also explained other procedures that can be followed in relation to this situation.
"It is Rama's policy that has led to this impasse, because of the elected mayor of Beler. It would be appropriate for Beleri to swear. Goro in this case is a continuation of the mandate. The municipal council must either appoint in the first case a vice-mayor of the Himara municipality or the municipal council should call the end of the mandate and send its decision to the representative of the government, such as the prefect of the district.
The district prefect notifies the government and then there are other procedures leading to by-elections. Decisions are taken by the Municipal Council, which appoints a mayor. The SP has the votes to appoint the mayor, but I don't know if this situation will continue or if there will be early elections," he said.
