Sokol Mjacaj, sentenced to life imprisonment in the IEVP "Peqin" high security prison, has addressed the Court to request an exit from the special regime.
The judicial body headed by Erjon Bani has decided to overturn his request, leaving him in the 41 biss regime.
"The applicant, Sokol Mjacaj, on 03.01.2024 submitted to the Court the request with the object: Objection to road no. 685, dated 15.12.2023 of the Minister of Justice "On the placement in the special regime of the exercise of rights in the high security prison of the prisoner Sokol Mjacaj".
2. At the end of the trial, the Special Court of First Instance for Corruption and Organized Crime with a panel composed of judge Erjon Bani, based on articles 112 and 471 of the Criminal Code, with decision No. 25, dated 25.03.2024, decided:
1. Dismissal of the request of the applicant Sokol Mjacaj.
2. Court costs to be borne by the petitioner.
3. Against this decision, an appeal can be made to the Special Court of Appeal for Corruption and Organized Crime within 15 (fifteen) days, starting from the day after the notification of this decision", the announcement states.
Sokol Mjaçaj has been convicted by the court as the perpetrator of the murder of two Czech tourists, Michael Svatos, 27 years old, and Anna Kosinova, 36 years old, with the intention of robbing their off-road vehicle. This event happened in July 2015, in the area of Dukagjin, in Shkodër.
We recall that Mjacaj only a few minutes after learning the news that the Minister of Justice had decided to put him in "41 biss", committed the murder of Arben Lleshi inside the premises of the high security prison in Peqin.
