During a press conference the day before, September 22, at the White House, President Donald Trump stated that 'Tylenol' (Paracetamol) when consumed during pregnancy causes autism in children.
" Tylenol... don't take it, don't take it. Tylenol during pregnancy has been linked to an increase in autism, so taking it is not good. I say it is not good ," Trump said yesterday.
Continuing his speech, Trump also touched on the hepatitis vaccination, stating that children should not get it at a young age, but over 12 years old.
On the "Rudina" show on TV Klan, nutritionist Diola Dosti emphasized that Trump's claim, which links the use of paracetamol during pregnancy to an increased risk of autism in children, is not new and is supported by several serious scientific studies.
She underlined the importance of careful analysis of existing data and added that this topic continues to be a subject of debate in the international scientific community.
" This is not a new statement as this is a study that was done in 2021. It is not a small study that has been put aside, but it is a meta-analysis that was done in 2021 and that links Paracetamol to autism.
It's not something new, but it was reanalyzed in 2023 and 2024. We have other studies that have reinforced this, which is why President Trump has come out with this kind of statement. Let's not forget that Paracetamol is one of those medications that crosses the placenta and can have effects on the child's brain development.
This is always based on some data and studies. These are data that must be taken into consideration. The fact that today scientists and doctors are divided into two sides, for and against, means that there is room for a very large discussion. It is a very broad topic to discuss, but personally I am not surprised , "said nutritionist Diola Dosti.
