Albanian Pano Ruci has ended his hunger strike after 23 days, after all his demands were accepted.
He had requested the exhumation of his son, Denis Ruci, who lost his life in the Tempe railway tragedy, as well as the performance of specialized examinations.
In his statements earlier today, Ruci emphasized that he has requested full transparency in the process of toxicological and other examinations, after the green light was given for their development.
“ Today marks 23 days that I have been here in Syntagma and I will continue this struggle until we receive confirmation from the government that our demands will be accepted,” he said in a statement issued on Tuesday afternoon, October 7.
" Today the light defeated the darkness ," declared Zoi Konstantopoulou, the lawyer of Panos Ruci, on Tuesday evening from Syntagma Square.
" Light can defeat darkness. With the strength of his spirit and that of the entire society, with the right on his side, he is challenging the harshest and most ruthless mechanisms. Concealment, cover-up and schemes to bury the truth did not triumph. Today it was proven that Pano Ruci succeeded in defeating those who wanted to hide the truth. The mechanisms resisted, but the return to circulation of the 3,000-page file that documents the negligence of the responsible institutions is proof that Panos Ruci's struggle and perseverance were not in vain, " she emphasized.
