Joni Keta has been proposed by SPAK for the head of the National Bureau of Investigation. After almost 3 months of delay, today the special commission led by Altin Dumani, Arben Kraja and Behar Dibra completed the evaluation phase and proposed that Aida Hajnaj's successor be Joni Keta, who is currently the vice president of the BKH.
The list of candidates included four police officers, two BKH investigators and a prosecutor. Specifically, the candidates in the race were: Andi Pogaçe, Artur Beu, Elton Kërluku, Gentian Ndoi, Gentjan Shehaj, Gledis Nano and Joni Keta .
The name will now go to the KLP and the Council is expected to make the decision at its meeting on December 2, 2025.
According to the law, the activity of the National Bureau of Investigation is based on a specialized judicial police service that carries out the prevention, detection, investigation and suppression of criminal activity, through proactive investigation, application of special investigation techniques, application of systems, databases, analysis and intelligence, information technology tools, as well as strengthening measures aimed at increasing security parameters in the country.
There have been many clashes between former director Aida Hajnaj and SPAK head Altin Dumani over the role of BKH. Aida Hajnaj left office on August 31st and SPAK failed to select a successor, holding the process hostage for 3 months.
Meanwhile, on December 11, the KLP will also elect the head of SPAK, as this is Duman's last month. So, it seems that within December the two most important figures in the anti-corruption fight will be elected./ Pamphlet
