The experiment to bring in workers from abroad will continue. After the Philippines and Bangladesh, Albania has set its sights on Indonesia. The news was announced by the Indonesian Deputy Minister of Migrant Workers Protection, Christina Aryani.
“The hospitality and manufacturing sectors need hundreds of qualified professionals. Opportunities include 2–3-year employment contracts in the hotel industry, as well as good prospects in the automotive industry, driven by new investments. The Indonesian government is also promoting the drafting of memoranda of understanding with Bulgaria and Albania, as an important instrument to guarantee a safe, orderly, secure and affordable placement for PMIs ,” said Aryani.
Mainly for the fashion and tourism sectors, around 40,000 foreigners are expected to come to Albania in the coming months.
Emin Shini, a labor market expert, told A2: "This is a short-term solution. It is an experiment, the results of which have been shown before. Our attention should be on the young people in the country. There are also many costs to their behavior."
Data from the Institute of Statistics shows that there are currently 74,730 Albanians registered as unemployed with employment offices. Most of them have secondary education, but there are also approximately 7,000 others with higher education. On the other hand, there are over 32,000 registered job seekers who are receiving economic assistance.
"I have an opinion that they are employees from Asia. In these years of experimentation, they have shown that they are productive and do not see Albania only as a transit country towards the West," Shini emphasized.
Last September, it was President Bajram Begaj who submitted the request to recruit employees from there to the Prime Minister of the caretaker government of Bangladesh, Muhammad Yunus, during the proceedings of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly./ A2 CNN
