Adolescent drug use is one of society's most pressing issues.
During the last week, it has been at the center of discussions due to the police operation that arrested drug dealers near schools.
The number has increased significantly in recent years, but what are the causes that lead young people to use drugs?
"As for the part of schools, teenagers, we know that there are several influencing factors: the age at which they are, the social pressure they have, the way the family treats the child.
If we have parents who abuse narcotic substances, there is a child who can definitely become a user of narcotic substances, it is also the trend of the time. So in a way, we have almost like an open road to make them to be sellers or users of narcotics", says psychologist Arjana Muça for TCH.
The lack of money to buy drugs, given that they are of a young age, is one of the weak points that drug dealers take advantage of to introduce these young people into their 'network', not only as users but also for turn them into distributors themselves.
"It is precisely this that pushes them towards the path of not only being drug users but also distributors of narcotics, which provides them with some income.
What is evident is that in the beginning these narcotics are offered for free in small quantities until they bring them closer within their groups and then pass them on to narcotics distributors for reasons of profit", stressed the psychologist.
It is precisely their behavior under the influence of narcotics that betrays them and makes the problem visible, both in the eyes of family members and of the pedagogical staff, who have daily communication both with the students and with the students in the auditoriums.
"We find it very easy to distinguish an individual who is a user of narcotics because he is not clear either when he communicates, or when he moves, or when he reasons about a certain problem.
The way they behave is what immediately reflects it, they are aggressive in their way of behaving, they are often violent, so these are elements and indicators that we understand the individual who may be a user of narcotics", said Muça.
Cooperation between family members and teachers is an important step in identifying cases, in order to give the necessary help to young people to start rehabilitation.
