The Appeal Court of Kosovo has not yet issued a decision regarding the security measure against Mayor Eriuon Veliaj.

Judge Engert Pëllumbi will deliver the verdict at 10:00 on Thursday.

Today's hearing at the Appeals Court of Kosovo began at around 12:40, where at its opening, Mayor Erion Veliaj's lawyer, Artur Selmani, presented his position on the new evidence presented by SPAK. Also present at the hearing were two prosecutors, Ols Dado and Altin Dumani.

According to reports, speaking at the court session, Mayor Veliaj requested that the session be made open to the media so that he could publicly declare the wiretaps that he claims were made against him during his time in Durrës detention center.

Veliaj has denied the prosecutors' claims. According to sources, Veliaj has stated that there are no secrets in the phone conversations with his family members from his prison cell.

Veliaj says he was held in solitary confinement for a month in order to find new evidence, while also bringing to attention the statements of Sali Berisha who has openly threatened SPAK and prosecutors, calling them a criminal organization. “But what happened to Sali?” Veliaj asked the courtroom, saying that Berisha's attacks were not considered new evidence.

"You have brought "new evidence", I ask that you bring the cameras and that this session be open to the media. Bring the media so that I can publicly declare before them the wiretaps carried out against me. I have no secrets in my phone conversations with my family members from the prison cell. You isolated me for 1 month in prison so that you could find "new evidence". Saliu insulted SPAK and accused it of being a criminal organization, what did he find? Why were Berisha's attacks on SPAK not considered new evidence?", said Veliaj.

The hearing to re-evaluate the security measure for Mayor Veliaj began on Tuesday at 10:00 and lasted about 7 hours. Meanwhile, the continuation of the hearing was postponed, giving Veliaj's defense lawyers time to familiarize themselves with the new evidence presented by SPAK.

The defense of Veliaj and the imprisoned businessman, Elman Abule, have requested a lighter security measure in exchange for a financial guarantee.

Meanwhile, the defense lawyers of the three businessmen Shkëlqim Fusha, Gentian Sula and Meriman Palushi have requested the lifting of the mandatory appearance measure, arguing that it does not meet the legal standard, as according to them the evidence is insufficient. The three are accused of active corruption.

Ajola Xoxa, Sokol Kryeziu and Fatmir Bektashi did not appeal the security measure in the Appeals Court.

Mayor Veliaj has been held in custody since February 10 and is accused of the criminal offenses of "Passive Corruption" and "Money Laundering", committed in collaboration with his wife Ajola Xoxa, who is being investigated under the obligation to appear, also for failure to declare assets. /Pamphlet/
