GJKKO has decided to make 290 people, family members of the victims and injured from the tragedy that happened in March 2008, part of the Gërdeci process.
Regarding this decision, the lawyer of the families of the victims of Gërdec, Dorian Matlija, spoke, who called it a victory for the Durda family, since since 2009 they have had such a request that was not accepted.
The decision was taken on Wednesday during the process that took place today, where the defendant was the former minister Fatmir Mediu.
" The history of the participation of the family members of the victims is a very long struggle. It has been very difficult to change to reach this point today, so they are side by side with all other parties. The number is large, and that was the most logical step for the court to take. They have rights to ask for anything that is argued there. New evidence in summary judgment cannot be introduced. But in regular trial anything can happen. The interest of the family members was to clarify the incident, only the truth ", he said.
Meanwhile, Zamira Durda said that this is a small victory for them. She said her son was killed on the orders of the minister.
" A small victory. Let's see how it will go. The evidence is public. The weapons arrived, the minister's order did and killed my son", said Durda.
