Jamarbër Malltezi, the son-in-law of former Prime Minister Sali Berisha, has not spared accusations and attacks against two SPAK prosecutors, Arben Kraja and Enkeleda Millonai, regarding the "Partizani" file.
During the session at the GJKKO where Malltezi presented his submissions, there was no shortage of debates, but also of drawing attention to the son-in-law of the former Prime Minister, who is one of the SPAK defendants in what is considered the "Partizani" affair. Malltezi described the prosecutors of the file as political and despite the attention drawn by the Court, he did not consider this as sacrilege.
Malltezi is accused by SPAK of money laundering and corruption, while former Prime Minister Sali Berisha is accused of passive corruption, favoring his son-in-law regarding all the procedures followed regarding privatizations related to the file in question.
Berisha's son-in-law described Arben Kraja as an investigator from the communist era, while Enkeleda Millonain was a prosecutor catapulted to SPAK by Taulant Balla, head of the SP Parliamentary Group.
Prosecutor Millonai asked the Court to draw the defendant's attention to the language he was using in the courtroom.
"I request that the defendant be warned, since the defendants are not the prosecutors in this process. If there are allegations, they should address the relevant bodies. They should stay within the elements contained in the charges," said Prosecutor Minollai.
In addition to Jamarbër Malltez and Sali Berisha, other defendants in the "Partizani" case are businessman Fatmir Bektashi, who is accused of corruption and money laundering, while land heir Xhimi Begeja and financier Andia Pustina, who handled the financial and legal affairs of the "Homeplan" company, are accused of money laundering.
Also on trial for money laundering are three companies: "Kontakt", "Homeplan" and "Studio Pustina".
Sali Berisha has considered the entire investigative process as political and not based on any facts or evidence. For the case in question, Berisha spent more than a year under house arrest, after previously opposing a measure imposed by SPAK to force him to appear and ban him from traveling abroad. Malltezi was initially arrested by SPAK, but a few weeks later the security measure against him was changed to house arrest and then to investigation at large.
The debate
Malltezi: What can I say, prosecutors, they are political prosecutors who filed a political accusation.
Court: Not this language towards the prosecution representatives, they are prosecutors.
Malltezi: I have articulated political prosecutors before why it is sacrilege. If you want, add a new charge of agitation and propaganda, because we have already shot them.
SPAK Prosecutor: I request that the defendant be warned. If he has any allegations, he should address them to the relevant authorities. He should stay within the elements contained in the charges.
