The protest of the residents of Rrjoll against the construction of a luxury resort in the Baks-Rrjoll-Velipojë area has been accompanied by strong emotional appeals and accusations against state institutions.
Among the protesters, a resident delivered a moving appeal for justice, demanding protection for family members and properties inherited from generation to generation.
"We want justice, only justice. Please, only justice, to save our children, fathers and brothers. My brother collapsed in the middle of the country yesterday, it took 40 minutes for the ambulance to arrive at that place," she said, denouncing the serious situation and the lack of rapid response by emergency services.
The resident emphasized that the protest is taking place on lands that, according to her, legally belong to the families of the area. In her testimony, she also brought up a personal moment, recalling her grandfather's will. " I was 20 years old when my grandfather told me before he died: 'Don't sell the land'. Please, justice in this country," she said, emotional.
"We want justice, only justice. Please, only justice, let our children, fathers and brothers be saved. Please, justice, leave our sons, brothers and sisters who we have there. The appeal comes at a time when the residents of Rrjoll have continued their protest for the third day in a row and have also appeared before SPAK, demanding a halt to the works for the resort and an investigation into their claims of land occupation. So far, the institutions and the construction company have not publicly reacted to these calls.
