Greek media "find the culprit": Drone may have been launched from Turkish base in Pashaliman
As always happens in any scandal, crime or event, the Greek media continues to blame Albanians first.
Athens media have gone so far as to raise suspicions that the mysterious naval drone found in Lefkada on Thursday may have originated from Albania.
The drone was found inside a cave, with its engine running. The upper part had special sensors, antennas and high-tech communication equipment. It is a USV, an unmanned surface vessel that is used primarily for military purposes, such as surveillance, intelligence gathering or even special operations, but also for advanced scientific research.
After verification, it was determined that it was a drone used by the Ukrainian military. There is much mystery as to how this drone reached the Greek coast.
But the Greek media outlet " Military.gr ", which deals with defense issues, seems to have found the culprits: They are the Albanians and the Turks.
According to this media outlet, which for the sake of truth is not taken too seriously, the drone may have been launched by the Turks at the "Pashaliman" base.
“ The question of where the drone originated and where it was controlled remains unanswered. However, many people think of Albania, where the Turks are said to maintain a naval base. Turkey maintains a presence at the Pashaliman naval base in the Bay of Vlora, Albania, which is used by both the Albanian and Turkish navies. The Turkish-funded base is considered strategically important for Turkish influence in the region. Who can rule out the possibility of cooperation between the Turks and the Ukrainians? Only the Greek government if it decides to stop being silent. It must be taken for granted that Athens will ask Kiev for explanations. Or maybe it is not so self-evident ,” the columnist writes.
