Footage of the first moments when a building caught fire near the area known as "Farmacia 10" in Tirana, a few days ago, has been published.
From the footage, it can be seen that a pile of cardboard was burning near the facade of the first floor of the building, on the corner of "Big Market". The video also shows the presence of a citizen at the scene, who did not intervene to stop the fire in the initial stages.
The fire then spread rapidly, engulfing a significant part of the building. The flames continued for more than 6 hours, in a long operation by the fire brigade, who managed to bring the situation under control. No one was injured in the incident, but significant material damage was caused to dozens of apartments.
Authorities have launched investigations to fully clarify the circumstances, and so far several people have been criminally prosecuted.
Prime Minister Edi Rama has also reacted to this event, who in the podcast "Flasim" described the situation as dangerous for the lives of residents, but praised the intervention of firefighters and law enforcement.
According to him, their professional response avoided consequences in human lives, despite significant damage to the building, which was severely damaged by the fire.
Rama announced that it has been decided that the building will be rebuilt by the builder, while the affected families will be supported with a rental bonus and assistance from the municipality until they return to their homes.
He also focused on public reactions after the event, criticizing comments that, according to him, are made without proper expertise, describing some of them as hasty and unfounded.
