The Police Director orders the use of technology to record violations
The Director General of the State Police, Skënder Hita, has signed an order to change the method of road control, suspending visible police services on national axes and other areas.
In a communication addressed to local structures, he argues that drivers have reported concerns about frequent stops without a clear legal basis, as well as the delays that these checks cause during travel.
The order provides that from April 10, the practice of detentions with the justification "for verification" will be immediately discontinued.
Instead, police should rely on technological devices to detect violations, including automatic speed cameras and the use of drones.
In cases where on-site verification is required in the presence of drivers, the structures must draft detailed control plans. These operations will be led by the heads of the sectors or sections of the traffic police.
This reorganization aims to change the way traffic is monitored and reduce direct interventions on the road.
