At noon today, employees of the Bankers Petroleum company held a protest in front of the company's premises in Marinza, expressing their dissatisfaction through a rally organized by the Hydrocarbon Sector Union.
The rally, which took place during the work break, focused on demands for improved working conditions and respect for workers' rights. Among the main demands raised were the implementation of the oil worker status and the provision of a nutritional diet for employees.
The head of the Union, Dritan Shahu, stated that workers can no longer be neglected and called on the company's administration and its director, Hong Ping, to listen to the voices of those who have shouldered the burden of production for years.
"We are not here for mercy, but to demand what is rightfully ours," said Dritan Rrapushi, secretary of the Union for the Fier branch, among other things, accusing the company of years of disregard for workers.
Participating employees, some of whom have long experience in this sector, described the treatment so far as unfair and insulting for the contribution they have made.
The protesters warned that this was only a first symbolic move, while emphasizing that in the absence of a response from the company, they will continue with other union actions.
