Analyst Neritan Sejamini, commenting on the frenetic pace of construction of towers in Tirana, stated that the government allows constructions without considering that people will live here, not building houses for people, but concrete.
In an interview for the show "The Unexposed", Sejamini said that the problem we have today with Tirana is that the city is not considered an urban, social and economic center, but a place where there is a piece of land should be made into a tower.
" When a new building is built, at least 1,000 residents are added to that neighborhood, hundreds of whom are children, hundreds are elderly, and hundreds of cars are added. What do they want?
They want schools so that children will go to school, they want nurseries, health facilities, they need a playground, they need sidewalks, water supply.
I live behind the "Air Albania" stadium, where several new towers have been built in the last decade, but nothing has been added. It's the same sidewalk, only a trash can has been added that is placed on the street.
We build, putting up a physical structure, without a single consideration that people will live here. We don't build houses for people, but concrete. The problem we have today in Tirana is that the city is not considered an urban, social and economic center. They look where there is a piece of land and here a tower needs to be built and here comes a criminal but also an honest businessman and builds a tower.
There is a law in Albania on the impact on the environment, part of which is a consultation with the residents who must give their opinion, because it destroys people's lives. We have a city stripped of any human consideration for the quality of life that does only one policy: building towers ," said Sejamini.
