Journalist Neritan Sejamini

Journalist Neritan Sejamini described the integration resolution that was approved by consensus in Parliament as "completely irrelevant" and added that the Assembly has 3 main tasks to fulfill if we want to join the European Union.

"This resolution today is completely irrelevant. It has no value. I find it ridiculous that Parliament makes a resolution where it assigns itself constitutional duties, promises to leave space for the opposition... Is there anything in the resolution that is not a constitutional obligation of Parliament? Second, about 10 resolutions have been made in Parliament on integration. Has integration progressed? That Assembly should know what conditions we have, but this Parliament has no idea today because the government has overshadowed and completely ignored the most important institution," Sejamini initially said in the "Off the Record" studio on A2CNN.

Further, Sejamini added that Parliament must take concrete steps to show that they are ready and serious about the path towards the EU.

"The European Union has said that there are a number of laws that need to be repealed, the strategic investment law and the mountains package. Instead of telling us when these laws will be repealed, the Assembly makes resolutions for us. Will you integrate? The Assembly should repeal those laws, this is the duty of the Assembly. To adapt the conditions that have been set and not to make excuses with resolutions. The Parliament has several essential duties, it does not deal with these at all, but makes resolutions. This Assembly has become a machine where laws are approved in series, without even seeing what is being approved. Laws come from abroad, parliamentary procedure is violated and it approves them in series. The Parliament has duties for us to integrate: to ask the government and make public Albania's negotiating position with the EU in all areas; to repeal all laws that have been conditioned by the EU; to establish transparent procedures for those laws that will be approved in the name of EU integration. If it does these 3 things, then it has taken a step towards "If he doesn't do it, he can then make 100 resolutions with 140 votes each day, but nothing will happen ," he concluded.
