A serious infrastructural situation has been created in the area known as "Arrat e Gurrës", in Dragostunje, Librazhd, where within a few days massive landslides have affected three key nodes: the national road, the railway line and the electricity transmission network.
Initially, damage was reported to the road segment on the Librazhd–Prrenjas axis, as well as to the Qukës–Qafë Plloçë segment. Damage to the foundation of a high-voltage pole was also found. The situation further deteriorated with the destruction of a part of the Elbasan–Librazhd–Prrenjas–Gur i Kuq railway line.
According to preliminary data, significant subsidence and displacement of the land has severely damaged the railway foundation in the Librazhd-Xhyrë segment. This part of the route, which runs parallel to the highway and the Shkumbi River, is currently out of service.
The supporting structures have been damaged, while the tracks appear deformed and displaced. The railway authorities are expected to conduct a full technical assessment for the necessary interventions.
In parallel, the pole no. 15 of the 110 kV line, an important element of the energy supply for the area, has also been damaged. The displacement of its foundation is considered a risk for the stability of the network, while the transmission operator's specialists are closely monitoring the situation to avoid interruptions or other consequences.
Landslides have affected an important segment of the corridor that connects several strategic points in the Elbasan region and beyond. Experts warn that interventions will require time, investment and detailed geological studies, as the area is prone to active ground movements.
Meanwhile, local residents and businesses report economic consequences and difficulties in movement, while "Arrat e Gurrës" has become a critical point for the sustainability of infrastructure on one of the country's most important connecting axes.
