The main topic of today was the dismissal of Veliaj from the post of mayor of Tirana, on the grounds that he has not shown up for duty for over three months continuously, since his arrest by order of SPAK on February 10, 2025.
Veliaj had previously requested to physically participate in today's City Council meeting that would vote on his dismissal as mayor, but this did not happen.
Journalist Enton Abilekaj states that the majority did not want Veliaj's presence in the hall, describing the entire process as simply a political decision by the head of government. The analyst even described the members of the majority as a "barracks", as well as a group of "Suns" embodied in the positions they hold and who vote as the prime minister wants.
" We don't expect anything from the majority anymore. Maybe they didn't want to listen to Veliaj's arguments. They were afraid that maybe he would get off topic and talk about issues that don't interest them. We don't know that. But we do know that they are a barracks that no longer thinks and only votes. They are a group of aligned Suns, embodied in the municipality, Parliament or government and who vote as Edi Rama wants ," he said in "Opinion" on "TV Klan".
Meanwhile, Abilekaj stated that the opposition should not participate in the session today, and should wait for Veliaj's presence.
" The opposition today should have set an example, that it should not have participated in the session, or that it should not have voted without Veliaj going, to show the opposite ," he said.
