The Directorate of Professional Standards in the State Police has taken disciplinary measures against the former leaders of the Lezha Police.
Because they abused their position by allowing gambling and the cultivation of cannabis, according to the Standards Directorate, the former Deputy Director for Order in the Lezha Police, Taulant Gjoka , and the former Chief of the Police Station, Oltion Gjoni, have been expelled from the police because for both of them, it is their competence to control the territory for criminal offenses such as organizing gambling and cultivating drugs.
According to A2 CNN, the former director of the Lezha Police, Altin Mena, has been demoted for 5 years. Mena is currently the deputy director for order in the Kukës Police. While the deputy director for Crime, Kujtim Gjoka, has had his promotion deadline postponed. We recall that Altin Mena competed for the position of Director General of the State Police, together with the winner, Ilir Proda.
All these measures by the Directorate of Standards came after the dismissal of Altin Mena, in Lezha where a casino and a warehouse where cannabis was cultivated were discovered. The reasoning of the Directorate of Standards states that during the leadership of the Lezha Police by these leaders, a three-story casino with over 20 machines and a poker room inside had been operating in the middle of the city for a long time, as well as cocaine seized at the time of the intervention.
Also, during their management according to Standards, a bar in the middle of the national road had been operating since August. Sources from the Standards Directorate indicate that they expect the AMP to also launch an investigation against the former leaders of the Lezha Police.
Just a few days after taking office as director of the Lezha Police, under the leadership of Islor Islam, a group cultivating cannabis in a warehouse in the middle of the national road in Lezha was discovered and busted. Over 1,000 cannabis plants were seized. Also, days earlier, a casino in the middle of the city had been discovered.
