The new Bektashi state, Milo: This issue was discussed in the Rama-Erdogan

Former Foreign Minister Paskal Milo has stated that the creation of a new Bektashi state in Albania may create internal concerns, but also in the international relations of our country.

Milo says that other religious communities will have the right to demand the same special status as the Bektashis, and deep resentment that harms harmony should not be created. He also says that the new Bektashi state would create problems in relations with its neighbors, especially with a country like Turkey. Milo said in MCN that this topic was part of the Rama-Erdogan talks at the UN.

Milo: It is an unusual announcement and of a very special importance, which we should not have heard through the 'New York Times' or articulated to the UN Assembly. Such notices must be agreed in Albania, by the official institutions. The Bektashi community in Albania has been and remains a respected community, centered on coexistence and religious tolerance. I have some thoughts, reflections, about the essence of the problem. We must bear in mind that the Bektashi community, which will be given this special status, is a community alongside other religious communities. According to the constitution, they have equal rights. The state is separate from religion.

Great care must be taken not to abuse and violate the Constitution. There is a danger in the fact that this may arouse dilemmas, dissatisfaction, ambitions in other religious communities, which may seek the same status. It can create a deeper resentment that can damage harmony. Comparisons are made that it will have the status of the Vatican, it is completely wrong, those who say it do not have the culture of international law. If I get the status of the Vatican, it violates the sovereignty of the country, there cannot be a state within the state.

Then there will be a need for international recognition, there should also be diplomatic recognition, ambassadors should be accredited to this new state. Is it in line with the Constitution? But there should also be international representation, because the Vatican also has international representation. We are at the limit of touching the Constitution.

It would create problems with the neighbors, but also with countries like Turkey, or other countries where there is a Bektashi, Shiite population. Iran, Iraq, other countries. Will this state have the right to represent the Shiites of Turkey, Iran, and Iraq? A big problem arises. I am convinced that the meeting with Erdogan was at the center of the talks. How will Turkey receive it? Don't you see it as a challenge? A few months ago, the ambassador of Turkey in Tirana made a statement accusing Baba Mondi of relations with Israel. Erdogan is even more dissatisfied with the head of KMSH.

We are members of the Islamic Conference, even there there will be influence, dissatisfaction. Concerns are also created within the country, even in terms of international relations. These should be seen with balance, treated with care. This idea has been circulating in the offices of the Prime Minister for several years. It is a project of several years. The State of Israel is grateful to Baba Mondi for his attitude towards Israel. He maintained a balanced attitude.
