A parent of an excellent student at the University of Medicine has denounced the non-distribution of excellence scholarships for this academic year, despite the fact that VKM 903 provides for the benefit of 100 thousand old lek per month for students with an average of 9–10.
While other universities have distributed the money, the Medical School has yet to publish the lists and make the payments. The administration gives contradictory versions of this impasse.
Finance says that the process is awaiting procedures and attendance, while the secretariat claims that the lists of beneficiaries have arrived. Meanwhile, about 500 students claim that they are being asked to sign contracts for forced labor after their studies; otherwise, they risk not receiving the scholarship.
According to lawyers Klaudi Zholi and Adriana Kalaja, this conditionality constitutes a legal violation, as the excellence scholarship cannot be linked to the obligation to employ.
