The government has poured millions into cybersecurity, but Homeland Justice hackers have hit one of the key institutions...
A few days after the attack on the Albanian Parliament website, the hacker group "Homeland Justice" claims to have also hit the Albanian Post Office, deepening concerns about cybersecurity in the country.
According to a message published on Telegram, the group claims to have taken control of the institution's website and data. Currently, the official website of the Albanian Post is out of service, while a number of services for citizens are at risk. Important payments are made through the Albanian Post, such as car fines and utility bills. The hackers also claim to have taken all the data.
In their message, the hackers state: “ The Albanian Post Office was attacked by the Patriots of Homeland Justice due to its continued collaboration with the mujahideen and facilitation of their activities. ”
They go further with strong accusations against the institution: “ The corrupt officials of the Albanian Post have become servants of the terrorists of Camp Ashraf 3 and no longer have any independence in their actions .”
The group also warns of an escalation of attacks. " Our future actions will be stronger, more striking and more costly. We have the Albanian Post website and data in our hands and we will not let you go ," the message says.
This is another serious incident that seriously questions the effectiveness of investments in cybersecurity. Despite the millions of euros declared by the government to protect digital infrastructure, state institutions continue to be exposed to repeated attacks.
So far, there has been no official reaction from the Albanian authorities on the extent of the damage or the veracity of the claims, while the situation remains unclear and with a direct impact on citizens.
