The Special Court has passed the case against Safet Gjici and Alma Kaçin for trial.
Summary judgment was granted for both.
GJKKO with the trial body Atalanta Zeqirin accepted the request of the representative of the charge Manjola Kajana to pass the file for trial for the criminal offenses of 'passive corruption' regarding Gjic and 'active corruption' for Kači.
Also, the GJKKO accepted the defendants' request for a summary trial, but not the one for dismissal of the charges.
In the session with closed doors, Kaçi stood by his earlier statements, saying that there were signals that the local government was abusing his office, and he had decided to carry out the scenario to prove the suspicions, according to her, through an investigation.
" I had heard and received information that such officials carried out actions in violation of their duties, including Gjici. I decided to do an investigation, I had no intention of getting a tender or any such favor. I just wanted to prove how high officials abuse their position" , said Kaçi in court.
Meanwhile, Safet Gjici said that the scenario is made up, not even sparing the accusations.
"There is no fact, no evidence, no firm or decision to prove that I committed the criminal offense. It is a matter fabricated by political soldiers ", said Gjici.
Just a few weeks after being reconfirmed for the second time as the mayor of Kukes, in the elections of May 14, 2023, Safet Gjici was involved in a sexual scandal in the work office, where he had sexual relations with Alma Kaçi. In SPAK's request for passing the file for trial, unlike Gjic's claims, it is said that the fact has been proven that the official accepts the help requested by Alma Kaçi to present her project at the Municipal Council meeting.
According to SPAK, which closed the investigations on November 25, 2023, evidence and data were obtained from the analysis of which it was found that the defendant Alma Kaçi is the person who offered/gave irregular benefits to the defendant Safet Gjici, and that this the latter, after having benefited from her irregular benefit, in the form of a sexual favor, has promised/agreed to help her with her dog protection project and to present it further at the meeting of the Municipal Council of the Municipality of Kuka.
Since June 24, 2023, when he was arrested, Safet Gjici is in custody, while Alma Kaçi is being tried under a security measure of 'house arrest'.
