The liberation of Tirana is a historical moment and is considered one of the most important and successful operations that UNÇSH units have carried out against the German forces and their collaborators for the liberation of the cities of Albania.
The liberation of the capital was entrusted to the 1st Assault Corporation, through an operational-strategic plan of the General Command that provided for the creation of an internal and external front in order to close and attack the German garrison inside Tirana.
The operation took place in three phases: the preparatory phase (September 12 – October 28), the first attack phase (October 29 – November 10) and the final attack phase (November 11 – 17).
The mission operation for the liberation of Tirana ended with victory, after 19 days of fierce fighting inside the city, as well as along the roads leading to it. On November 17, Tirana was liberated. The battle of Mushketa played a special role in the success of the operation.
