Analyst Enton Abilekaj spoke about the tragic accident in Durrës, where two children lost their lives and another was injured, raising concerns about the role of institutions and the lack of police response.
Invited to the show "The Unexposed", he emphasized that beyond individual behavior, the case highlights deeper structural problems.
"Talking about the vices of Albanians is easy, but the case raises questions. We have three children playing on the sidewalk, because they have nowhere to play. A wide street, but without enough sidewalks," said Abilekaj.
The analyst emphasized that residents had previously reported the perpetrator's dangerous behavior, but to no avail.
"Residents who complain about a person passing at high speed but are not heard, a tragic accident that after it happens, the person does not go to the police but to a friend of his, a local authority," he declared.
According to Abilekaj, the case requires a deeper analysis of responsibilities. "To find the real culprits, where it comes from, we need to ask the questions, why are the children playing on the sidewalk? Who is to blame?", he said.
He also raised questions about the police's inaction against a person who had been reported several times.
"With what courage does this man go out to drink and get drunk, take the car and drive back quickly, despite the residents complaining to the police? Why doesn't the police intervene? Why does he see it as an opportunity to make money?", said Abilekaj.
Abilekaj emphasized the impact of high-level corruption on society. "Even society gives up when it sees that there are only links of corruption," he declared.
The analyst also described the situation as a broader institutional and social problem.
"Complete degradation of the state, and then society also degrades. The strong, with the defenseless, is in a big difference ," said Abilekaj.
