Tirana's main roads are blocked...
Tirana will face a partial traffic paralysis today, due to the "Triathlon" sports event, which will take place in Helen Park, near Lake Farka. This activity, which has now become a tradition, is expected to gather hundreds of athletes from within and outside the country in a competition that includes swimming, cycling and running.
The Municipality of Tirana, in cooperation with the State Police, has approved a plan of measures for the smooth running of the race, including road closures and diversions of public transport lines. More specifically, on September 21, from 08:00 to 13:00, traffic will be restricted on the streets "e Tuneleve", "Daxhit", "Panorama e Liqenit", "Diga e Liqenit", as well as in important segments such as Boulevard "Zhan D'Ark", "Gjergj Fishta" and "Bajram Curri".
Meanwhile, urban lines will also undergo drastic changes; some of them will be diverted towards Wilson Square or major roundabouts, while some lines such as 5/A, 10/A and 14 will be temporarily suspended entirely.
Despite the restrictions, authorities guarantee that the circulation of emergency vehicles and State Police will continue normally. However, citizens are advised to avoid movement in these areas and plan their itinerary in advance, as the restrictions will start from September 19 for technical preparations.
