The preliminary hearing for the former mayor of Durrës, Vangjush Dako, and 10 other people, who are accused of abuse of office and falsification of documents, is being held today.
At the hearing, it will be decided whether the case should continue to be investigated or whether it will go to trial.
Today it is expected that the Appeal of the suspects will be carried out, the defense lawyers will be recognized by proxy. In this process with closed doors, the wanted announcement will be confirmed, the notification of the persons who will have to be tried in absentia. It is about three people, currently 11 accused citizens have been surrendered, among them the former mayor of Durrës, who continues to be arrested, although in the status of pre-trial detention.
The only measures are two, dismissal of the charge and, on the other hand, the mitigation of the measure from arrest in prison to house arrest, for one of the builders.
At the beginning of January, it was announced that a preliminary hearing would be held, the trial will continue in absentia and it will be seen if this process will not be unblocked in absentia.
Vangjush Dako misused his office as mayor, while earlier he said that he had no knowledge and followed the law.
