The General Director of the Albanian Electric Power Corporation, Ergys Verdho, has left his post. Kapitali.al has learned that Mr. Verdho resigned a day ago, while the motivations for this departure are not yet known.
Sources say that Verdho can become the head of railways, a sector which in the coming years is expected to receive significant funds, as the government has announced a series of major projects such as the railway with Pristina, but also the Vorë-Hani i Hoti .
It remains to be seen what will be the new name that will replace Verdhon at the head of KESH, one of the country's most important public companies. Several names are currently being floated, including Eltar Deda, who currently holds the position of head of another public company, Albpetrol.
Ergys Verdho was appointed as the director of KESH in June 2021. During his time at the head of the Corporation, the country faced the extraordinary energy situation as a result of the crisis imposed by the war in Ukraine.
The government declared an energy emergency and through accelerated procedures contracted two ships for energy production in Vlora from the American company Excelerate.
The ship contract with the Excelerate-Renco consortium was negotiated by Verdho. But this contract has caused strong debates in the public, not only because of the large value of about 70 million euros, which will be paid by taxpayers for the two-year contract of the ships, but also because of the fact that so far they have not been put into service for a single day. work.
Although it has spent several million euros to build the infrastructure that enables the start of energy production from the two floating power plants, KESH has not yet taken delivery of these tools.
