An unusual thing happened in the Court of Tirana, which is considering the file for the former KLA fighter Dritan Goxhajn. Last week, Goxhaj submitted a request that he would not appear in the trial, due to the lack of defense lawyers, and in the submitted form, Goxhaj requested the postponement of the court session.
But this request of his was not taken into account and surprisingly it was proceeded with the beginning of the trial. Goxhaj was then informed today that the hearing on September 27 was held even though the accused party was not in the room. The court itself had appointed a lawyer and without notifying Goxhajn held the court session.
We remind you that Dritan Goxhaj was arrested on July 31 of this year with an arrest warrant issued by the Special Court of Kosovo. Meanwhile, on September 19, the Court of Tirana decided that Dritan Goxhaj can be extradited to the Specialized Chambers in The Hague.
Goxhaj is accused of committing the criminal offenses of "Intimidation during criminal proceedings" and "Obstructing an official in the performance of official duties", provided by the criminal legislation of the Republic of Kosovo. A few days ago, he rejected the request for his release again.
Who is Dritan Goxhaj?
Dritan Goxhaj joined the KLA as an officer of the Albanian Army at the aviation school and was authorized by the General Staff to maintain contact with the command of the American Forces in Albania.
He is the son of the soldier Dilaver Goxhaj, who voluntarily joined the KLA, following the request of the KLA General Staff, when he was entrusted with the position of Deputy Chief of the KLA General Staff and, with the commitment of NATO in the war, he was entrusted with the duty of the cooperation officer with NATO.
